Divorce Renegotiations and the Recession

The drop in property and investments values has increased the amount of solicitors being asked to renegotiate divorce settlements, as ex-partners look to reassess what they are currently worth.

This is mainly due to changes in future earnings, high value possessions, childcare costs and property values as well as the general drop in interest rates.

Many divorcees, who had already submitted the terms of their financial settlements, are now requesting renegotiations to better harmonise their losses with their current wealth, with research finding that one in ten solicitors believe clients attempting the change stand a good chance of winning.
Many people going through a divorce are not aware that financial settlements may be renegotiated if the value of their items change, therefore if you require further advice and assistance contact Cheryl Low in the Family Department of kenneth elliott + rowe solicitors.
